Sister Mary MacKillop

Sunday, October 17th, 2010

Sister Mary MacKillop Today is a proud day for Australian Catholics. One of our own has been recognised as a saint. Even if you aren’t into the whole "saint" thing, and I know some simply don’t believe in God, while others accuse Catholics of idolatory (Don’t call me an idolater! – joke), but Mary MacKillop was an extraordinary woman, who lived her ideals by living with and serving the poor. She was ahead of her time in so many ways. And if nothing else, her’s is a life worth remembering and celebrating for her actions alone.

Sydney sunrise walk 1

Sunday, October 17th, 2010

It’s well over a year since I last walked into the city, so this morning instead of doing my usual exercise routine, I walked to North Sydney, over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and to Wynyard Station, and this is just a few things that I saw. I could do this walk a million times and each time come away with a completely different set of images and still get home by 7am in time for breakfast.
