Hi Rob, in my experience I've found that different people have different motivations... when I was a kid I had an Amiga, and there were so many Amiga owners who were like evangelists for the platform... not one of them received a cent from Commodore (far from it). I suspect that it depends on the product, and it depends on the person...

Hey John, I read "the Long Tail" over the weekend and I think your suggestions are very strong. I'm curious as to if you think a benefit of "fame" is sufficient or if one of "fortune" is necessary for evangelizing customers.

Hi All,

Let’s take this to the next level…

Yes! you can use Myspace and other networking sites to market your business, however it’s all about how you do it.

On a networking site people don’t want to be sold on anything, they want to find interesting things to look at, something that will intrigue them or make them smile.

Your Myspace marketing success will solely be based on the amount of creativity you use, if you expect the power of word of mouth marketing or viral marketing to work for you.

For example, creating a funny flash or real life video that pertains to your business and company, writing about your everyday business life…which brings me to being personal.

Don’t just throw up some banners and an estore...be personal, fun and exciting. There are also tools and softwares you can use to market yourself across myspace. You’ve probably heard of those myspace software and friend bots that automate some of the more tedious tasks you’d need to do to add friends to your profile…but ever since myspace put a limit on the amount of messages and friend requests you can send out, it’s been harder to gain thousands of friends, let alone millions.

However, I did find a very interesting viral marketing program I truly believe will deliver what it says it does… “1,000,000 MYspace friend within one year!”.

That’s a big promise to make, but the marketing system turns your myspace friends and fans into your own promotional team of marketers.

A very interesting concept. Here’s the link if you want to check it out for yourself.
